Visitors

The boys have had lots of visitors lately. Lesley came to visit us on her lunch break last week and Evan's parents stopped by last Friday for a little bit. Evan's Aunt Beth, Uncle Keenan, and cousin Josh came to visit last weekend too. Beth has seen the boys several times, but this was Josh and Keenan's first time. We enjoyed visiting with everyone and hope to see all of you again soon! Fisher and Davis said thanks for coming!!

Moving on up...

to size 1 diapers that is. We've finally graduated from our newborn diapers. I can't believe it! They still are mostly in newborn clothes, but there's a few 0-3 months they can wear without being swallowed by them. I have several nice summer outfits that were 3 months that I guess they won't be able to wear. I'm so bummed. One outfit is the cutest pair of white linen shorts with a brown and white Hawaiian shirt to match. We're inching up on Labor Day so unless they hit a huge growth spurt they won't be able to sport those, unfortunately.

Happy 3 months Fisher and Davis!

Davis and Fisher turned 3 months old today. I can't believe they're 3 months already- time sure does fly by. Davis is still smiling a lot and Fisher is smiling more and more each day. Davis rolled over for the first time yesterday, but he would only do it that one time. As soon as he landed on his back he started screaming and then after that he wouldn't try anymore. I think it scared him. Fisher is working on it and can almost do it so I think he will be rolling over within a few days.

I took the boys to have some professional pictures made today and they turned out so well. I was actually surprised at how well they turned out. I didn't think we would be able to get Fisher to smile very much for the camera, but he ended up smiling more than Davis. I was so surprised! I had such good intentions on purchasing the smallest picture package, but 2 hours later I was walking out the door spending way more money than I had planned on and getting more pictures than I probably need, but I couldn't resist. They looked sooo cute in their pictures. I guess now I have to go buy frames to go with all of the pictures I bought. :-)
Here's a few shots I snapped today to document their 3 month birthday.

Trip to Abbeville

We took the boys to Abbeville to see Evan's grandparents on Sunday. Nene has seen the boys several times, but this was Pop's first chance to meet them. Nene cooked a delicious lunch and then we visited all afternoon. We had a great time and we look forward to seeing them again sometime soon. :-)

Call Me Crazy!

While everybody else is trading in their gas guzzlers for smaller cars with better gas mileage, I just purchased one. But for VERY good reason. Those of you who have twins will know what I'm talking about, but have you ever tried to fit two infant carriers in a car or a mid-size SUV?? It doesn't work. To put them in my car I had to put one behind the drivers seat and one behind the passenger seat, but I had to move my seat so far up I could hardly press the clutch in. In the Jeep one would fit in the middle and one behind the passenger seat, but the seat had to be moved up so far no one could ride with me. Thus begin our search for a vehicle that would hold both carriers while allowing 2 people to ride in the front seat. After looking around, we decided that we would get a Tahoe. Then we realized that my stroller wouldn't fit in the back of it if the 3rd row was up. And if you can't ever use the 3rd row what's the point in having it. So we ended up buying a Surburban. The only difference when driving them is when you back up since the surburban is longer. Other than that they felt identical. So I'm now driving a small bus, but it works for us and our needs! I love it!

Bad to Worse to WONDERFUL!!!

So I thought I would give you an update on the boys. Since I posted last, things continued to go down hill. I vividly remember Davis screaming all day last Wednesday and Thursday. Fisher screamed a majority of those days too. And when I say all day I mean ALL day. The only time they weren't screaming was when a bottle was in their mouth. The hardest part for me was that I couldn't console them. I knew they were in pain, but there's nothing I could do about it. I tried everything I knew, but nothing worked. I called the doctor on Friday morning since they hadn't gotten better and they told me to hang in there that it usually takes a little while for them to get used to the milk. They also told me to start them on the Zantac. When hung up the phone, I wasn't a happy camper because I thought "hang in there"???? You're not listening to your 2 children whom you love dearly screaming to the point they can hardly breathe while there's nothing you can do about it. BUT I reminded myself that they are the experts and what other choice did I have. I gave them their first dose of Zantac midday on Friday and by Friday afternoon things were getting a little better. They weren't screaming anymore, they were just really fussy. They even took a few cat naps. That was definitely a step in the right direction. Saturday they did even better and on Sunday they did GREAT!!! We could put them in their bouncy seat or swing and they would just look around. They were so content. They even took naps for several hours at the time. I couldn't believe it. That's the first time I can remember that they napped for any length of time or would be content not being held since they were a few weeks old. Evan and I actually were able to unpack the first box of non-essentials. They did well all day and we went through a majority of the boxes in the garage. Things are WONDERFUL now! I don't know if it's the milk, the Zantac, or both, but something's working. I have the happiest baby boys!!!!!

Future Basketball Players

The boys went for their 2 month checkup today and they are growing like weeds.

Fisher
Weight: 9.3 lbs. 50th %tile
Length: 22 inches 95th %tile

Davis
Weight: 9 lbs. 50th %tile
Length: 22 1/4 inches 95th %tile

So it looks like the boys are going to be tall like their daddy and may even play for the NBA. :-) Even though Fisher was a lot smaller than Davis at birth, he has caught up.

On a side note, we've been really struggling to find a formula that agrees with the boys. The doctor gave us another formula to try since the previous one wasn't working very well. This will be the 5th formula we've tried so we are hoping this one will work for them. The goal is for them to cry less and be less gassy, which might mean they will start taking naps during the day. My first question when I went in today was "is it normal for 2 month olds not to sleep during the day?" They occasionally will nap for a little bit (20 minutes), but it's very rarely at the same time. And when they are up, a lot of the time they are crying. I feel so bad for them because I know they aren't crying for no reason. We're just having trouble figuring out how to fix it. The doctor hopes this formula will help and if it doesn't he wants them to start taking Zantac. I'm supposed to report back to the doctor in a few days and if things aren't better, he said we'd try something else. They also had 5 vaccinations today so needless to say they aren't feeling very well. I'm hoping they will be feeling better tomorrow. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers!

Thursdays

I really look forward to Thursdays every week because my mother-in-law comes to help me with the boys. I'm so glad that she gets to spend time with them every week and it's a huge help to me when she's here. Here's a cute pic I snapped of her and Fisher.

Smiley

The boys have just started smiling in the past week or so. Davis grins from ear to ear all the time when he looks at you and Fisher does occasionally. I'm hoping Fisher will catch up with Davis soon. The doctor said they would be behind developmentally about 4 weeks since they were preemies. Sometimes when Davis grins from ear to ear, it's a warning that he's about to spit up all over the place. In fact that just happened. I put him down for the night and he started grinning from ear to ear and then came the eruption of milk.

Family Vacation

Every year Evan and I go to the beach for 2 weeks with my family. This year was a little different because our family has grown. Fisher and Davis got to experience their first beach trip. It's about a 4 1/2 hour drive and the longest they have ever ridden was about 2 hours so I wasn't sure how it would go, but they did GREAT!! They slept almost the whole way down there. We stopped once to feed them and grab some dinner, but other than that they were snoozing. On the way home we left as soon as we fed them and they didn't wake up at all until we arrived home.

Beautiful Sunrise from our balcony

The boys had been begging us all week to take them to the arcade to play Skeeball. Ok, well maybe that isn't quite true, but they enjoyed going to the arcade. Evan and I love going every year at the beach. We played skeeball, baseball, pinball, etc. and then cashed in our tickets for AWESOME prizes. I'm sporting one of the prizes in the picture-- a wolf hat.

On Friday morning we took the boys on the beach to actually get in the ocean. They did a lot better than I thought they would considering they don't really like getting in the bathtub. Fisher didn't cry at all and Davis didn't cry until a wave splashed a little bit on his face. We videoed it and as soon as I figure out how to post a video on here I'll post a little bit of the footage.

The above pics are of my Nana and Granddaddy with the boys. My granddaddy had to be hospitalized for a few days at the beach, but he is feeling much better. He is getting stronger every day. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers as he continues to heal.

Lowcountry Boil

Evan and I were supposed to throw Kelly and Michael a couples shower back in April, but since I was on bedrest we had to cancel it. So we threw them a post wedding party. It was so much fun! Friends and family gathered for a lowcountry boil and then Michael and Kelly spent the night with us. They were our first house guests. :-) Davis and Fisher attended the party as well as Cameron, Jamie and Leanne's little boy and they thoroughly enjoyed it because they got to be held the entire time! A good time was had by all.

The Happy Couple

Notice in the picture above that we have no grass, just red dirt. I'm happy to report that as of today we do have some green patches. :-)

Father's Day

We always travel for Father's Day and we alternate each year between Evan's family and my family. But this year Evan wanted to stay home for his first Father's Day. We had a lot of work to do around the house so we spent the day hanging out with the boys, unpacking boxes, and cleaning. I told Evan that I would pick up lunch from wherever he wanted so he chose a very gourmet place --Jack in the Box. We dined on fried chicken sandwiches, jalapeno poppers, and french fries. What a nutritious and healthy lunch! After lunch we gave Evan his Father's Day presents. Fisher and Davis bought him a new bathing suit for our beach trip so he could take them swimming in the ocean. Sunday night my parents came over for pizza. My dad got a bathing suit too and a Hardee's gift card. My dad eats lunch at Hardee's every day during the work week. I'm not kidding when I say every day. He doesn't even have to order anymore. They know exactly what he wants when he gets there so his gift card will definitely come in handy.

Kylee's Birthday Party

Fisher and Davis were invited to their second birthday party, but it was at the park and it was extremely hot that day so I left them at home and attended the festivities solo. They were very sorry they couldn't come. Kylee had a Dora party to celebrate her big day. She had a wonderful time! Drew made shirts for Kylee, Heather, and Tory to wear at the party. They were so cute. I posted a pic of them below.

Doesn't Kylee look like here Mommy?

Allie's Birthday Party

The boys went to their first birthday party. Allie turned 2 and she had a cookout to celebrate her big day! Davis and Fisher slept almost the whole time in their carriers, but I got some cute shots of the birthday girl.

Jealousy

My mom was holding both of the boys while I made bottles and Tucker felt left out so he jumped up on the couch to have snuggle time with Gran.
